A non profit organization founded in 1979 by the acknowledged, and awarded film and theater Director Elia K. Schneider. The company is currently Los Angeles based and its artistic line is experimental, interdisciplinary and multicultural. We function like a laboratory that studies, creates and researches new theater codes.
We fundamentally rely on the collaboration and dedication of our members and our main interest is to essentialize the scenic arts in visual forms through actions, movement, dance, lights, set music, paint, video, shadows and text.
(Israeli, Venezuelan, American) Master in Fine Arts Tisch NYU, burst into worldwide recognition in the 1980s with her Caracas-based Teatro Dramma theater group (Artistic Director and Founder) and was artistically “adopted” by La MaMa’s Ellen Stewart, who gave her a New York creative home and regarded her as one of her theater’s elite directors. Schneider’s previous productions at La MaMa include Franz Xavier Kroetz’ “Request Concert” (1982 – own adaptation), Franz Kafka’s “Blumfeld” (1985), own adaptation, her own play “Gaz” (1989), developed for the 50th Anniversary of the Holocaust, and her own plays “Rooms” (2000), which set three women in a Kafka-esque world of isolation and everyday obsessions “Judgment on the Gray Beach” (2015). The play received accolades from Theater Wire.
She is also a multi-awarded film director writer and producer of 12 feature films, four times official selection for Venezuela to the Academy Awards. Her latest film TAMARA (2017-18) won 13 international honors and film awards in Milano, Santa Barbara, Santo Domingo, Goa. She has been working together with Director – Writer – Producer Joseph Novoa for 35 years. She teaches her highly praised Acting course in Spanish language at Stella Adler Academy of Acting and Theater in LA since 2010. She is now adapting to screenplay an Uruguayan theater play called “Sarita and Michelle” about a holocaust survivor and a transgender woman.
He is an American, Venezuelan, Uruguayan Film-maker, Writer, Producer, Director. He has been 4 times “Venezuelan Official Selection to the Academy Awards” (Oscar). His film “Sicario” (1994) won 34 Internationals awards (including Tokyo “A”, HueIva - Biarritz -Santa Barbara - LaHabana - PhiIadeIphia - Fort Lauderdale) Nominated to the Goya Award (Spain) and invited to be member of the Real Film Academy of Spain. Has been a Writer, Producer, Director of such films as “Agony - Sicario - Devil Gold - The Boss - A Distant Place - Alone - Founder of Joel Films and Producer of “Huelepega, Punto y Raya, Des-Autorizados, God's Slave and Tamara” and Co-producer of 7 international films in Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Peru and Spain. He first worked in Theater, studying in Teatro Circular in Uruguay, and Jacques Lecoq in France, with Eugenio Barba; Odin Teatret in Denmark and he created his group Teatro Circo from Paris to present his work all over Europe. He directed two International Theater Festivals in Venezuela, and studied Film and TV at New York University and New School in New York. As a director, he is presenting now, his latest film “Alone”, and preparing for 2019 new projects in fiIms, “The GardeneL', “BuIIet Lullaby” and two tv series, “Sicario” based on his film and “The Wall”.
